To kick off the From Beer to Here Blog, we are excited to announce we are attending the Toronto Cider Festival this weekend! While we love craft beer, the cider scene in Ontario is growing rapidly. I’ve always enjoyed a cold cider on a beautiful summer’s day, and the variety of choices is only growing. The Toronto Cider Festival is hosted at the Sherbourne Common, the perfect spot to enjoy the sun for Session 1, or watch the sunset on the water for Session 2!
If you thought we were done celebrating Canada’s 150, you haven’t had a cider in hand on Toronto’s lake-front just yet. The festival will showcase more than 70 ciders (to be completely honest, I didn’t think there were this many ciders available to taste!), paired with amazing food, local Canadian talent, and live entertainment. I can’t wait to celebrate the end of a great summer with friends, food and fun times!
A ticket gets you access to either Session 1 (Day) or Session 2 (Evening), both of which are four and a half hours long, include four drink tokens and a sample glass to take home. The waterfront area will be transformed into a Canadian oasis including highlights from Canadian heritage, a cottage lounging space, Canada 150 photo booth, local vendors (my fave!) and more. There will even be a food competition during the day, and a bartending one at night!
To highlight the growth of the cider business over the last few years, expect to see breweries such as Brickworks Ciderhouse, The County Cider Company, Angry Orchard, Lonetree Cider and Strongbow on tap, as well as much more!
I’m looking forward to seeing all that Toronto Cider Festival has to offer and spend the evening on the lake with a friend by my side. How are you looking to send off summer?
